The United States presidential election of 1804 was the fifth quadrennial presidential election,
held from Friday, November 2, to Wednesday, December 5, 1804. Incumbent Democratic-Republican
It was the first presidential election conducted following the ratification of the Twelfth Amendment to the
United States Constitution, which required Electors to cast one vote for President, and one vote for Vice President.
It also narrowed a contingent election to the top 3 candidates, instead of 5.
